Toast the arrival of our Winter Seasonal Potato Chips

Our latest adventure into the world of innovative and mouth-watering flavours delivers nothing short of a local match made in heaven. ‘Dorothy Goodbody Ale & Mature Cheddar Cheese’ is our new winter seasonal potato chip flavour. During our search for the perfect Real Ale seasoning, we turned to Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) award winners Wye Valley Brewery for inspiration. Many pints of ale later, we chose the brewery’s ‘Dorothy Goodbody Golden Ale’ as the perfect component for the new winter potato chip flavour. The result is a fantastic, rich tasting chip, which is seasoned whilst still warm to give maximum flavour.

As usual, we wanted to add our own splash of humour to the packaging, so we invited Vernon and Peter Amor, the Brewery’s owners to pose for the front of pack photo. They’re pictured at ‘The Barrels’ – a lovely pub they own in Hereford. ‘Ale & Cheese’ joins established favourite ‘Beef & Horseradish’ to form a truly delicious winter potato chip duo.

News from the Farm
Along with most of the farming community, we’ve had our fair share of challenges this summer, with Mother Nature throwing her best at us. Although the land is heavily saturated, the flood damage is minimal this year and the crop is relatively unharmed. Once the potatoes are harvested, they’re graded into different size categories – with the larger potatoes selected to produce chips for the larger bags, and likewise for the smaller impulse bags. The potatoes are stored in creates, and drawn into the factory continuously throughout the production day. Despite all the wet weather, the potatoes suffer less bruising and damage when they’re harvested from wet soil, however the increased amount of mud coming in from the fields places greater pressure on the potato washing process. If you’d like more information about the harvest, please drop Harry our farm manager an email – harry@tyrrellspotatochips.co.uk.
