The election campaign has just got tastier! Last week we launched three Party Political Crisp flavours to celebrate the forthcoming May election.

We canvassed the nation on their political tastes to reveal which flavours you associate most with our leading political parties. Over 2000 people took part in the poll and the results formed the basis of our new election crisp range…!

Finally we have stuck the holy grail of proud Herefordians, and we can now confirm the Tyrrells Popple TM - a combination of the two is a reality, with 100 Popple TM trees currently growing in the orchard near Tyrrells Farm.

Grass Sledge
What is it about our country and snow? It arrives, we dust off the sledge, it’s all amazing for about an hour, and then we’re left with muddy slush at the bottom of our wellies. Our limited edition Turkey & Chestnut Stuffing Potato Chips in Waitrose….Tyrrells online gift shop is nearly finished (January launch…woohoo)…. 20% off Tyrrells in participating Farm Shops & Delis around the country until December 31st……Jess Williams from Customer Services had a baby girl called Nevaeh….our friend Alex at P&O ferries was crowned Tyrrells Indoor Potato Growing Champion 2009…..we’re all off to down to Hereford for our Tyrrells Christmas party on December 11th ….and we’ve all managed to gain on average 2 pounds in the pre-Christmas Party Tyrrells weight loss challenge.

We’ll try and squeeze in a final little news update before the year is out, but in the mean time, have a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for all your support, from all of us at Tyrrells Court Farm.

Our new ‘What puts the Great in Great Britain for you’ campaign has sent ripples of excitement through the independent retail trade across the country. We launched three ‘Great British’ flavours in September; Beef Wellington, Welsh Rarebit and Pork & Bramley Apple’.  Thank you for buying, trying and sending in your wonderful definitions of ‘Great Britishness’.

With wonderful ‘Great British’ prizes to be won each month, all you need to do to enter is send in your definition of ‘What puts the GREAT in Great Britain’. Tyrrelling at the BBC Good Food Show
We’ll be Tyrrelling with some of Britain’s best food and drink suppliers at the BBC Good Food Shows this month. Come and see us at BBC Good Food London (Earls Court) 13-15th November or BBC Good Food Birmingham (NEC) 25 – 29th November. We’ll have some great offers on our chips and dips to help you stock up on your favourite snacks for Christmas.

We’ll be producing a smart Tyrrells calendar this year featuring all our new products, events, tips for growing potatoes and many other interesting bits and bobs. We’d really like to open the calendar with a poem about Tyrrells – can you help us out? All we need is a simple verse that sets the tone for the year (no rudeness or swearing please!). Potato harvesting – big and small

In Spring this year, 100 Tyrrellers won a Tyrrells Potato Planting Kit. We’ve had a ball looking through all your photos – check out some of our favourites here. We’re at the height of harvesting our 2009 potato crop at the moment. We’ve enjoyed a much drier harvest this year, with a mild September making life much easier for Paddy and his farm team. Two big Food Festivals in two big Castles – will you be there?
This is our fifth year of sponsoring the wonderful Ludlow Food Festival, an annual event celebrating everything and anything food and drink related in the Shropshire Marches (Sept 11th – 12th). We’ll be there in style, with members of staff from all corners of Tyrrells there to talk to you about potato chips, our farm, the tasty contents of the 20,000 free carrier bags we’re giving out, or the short term weather forecast if all else fails! You could still be in with a chance of winning one night’s accommodation and some free tickets to the festival – enter our competition here and keep your fingers crossed!

We’ll also be attending the Abergavenny Food Festival this year (19th – 20th September). Described as Britain’s original food festival, this event just gets better every year. We’ll be sampling our new Welsh Rarebit potato chips in the castle grounds, hope to see you there!
